Posted by Between 9am on June 16th and 9am on June 19th (US Eastern Time) I will participate in VRAW (Virtual Race Across the West). This is the world’s largest virtual ultra-cycling event based on the small brother of the toughest ultra-cycling race in the world – The Race Across America. My goal is to race 925 miles/1488 km in less than 3 days in support of the non-profit “One in 8 Foundation” in support of women diagnosed with breast cancer and their families.
You may ask why Bulgaria and why breast cancer? Well, I was born in Bulgaria and my mother lost the battle with breast cancer there on April 29, 2013. I know what women diagnosed with cancer and their families go through, how much they need practical and emotional support from someone who can give direction and hope, someone who has been through the same battle.
Furthermore, I know that in Bulgaria, there is such organization like the “One in 8 Foundation” and they need our support now! Their national mobile support program “Soul sisters” must raise $ 5,000 by June 26 to become a permanent member of Global Giving. To implement the program for whole 2020 One in 8 needs $ 15 000 to continuing providing completely free of charge practical, informational and psychological counseling for women with breast cancer and their families across Bulgaria.
